We narrowed down our list and decided to make a few YouTube videos. Two years ago, Lori was gracious enough to partner with us on our tamale sale. Who knew you could make so many delicious dishes with salsa? The first was a beer cocktail also called a michelada. Seriously, there was salsa in that beer drink!
Lori also made a salsa slaw, guacamole with salsa and finally a salsa cheese dip!
Ernesto Martinez of Hacienda Mexican Grill did the michelada segment — lucky guy! I got the slaw segment and not only did Lori add salsa to the slaw…she also added honey! Never would have thought of that combination in a million years!
There was plenty though and we all dug into guac with chips between segments. Maricela Garcia rounded things out with the cheese dip segment. You know how it is…no matter how hard you try, you just keep breaking out into laughter?
That went on for a little while until we were all laughing. Jessica was definitely patient with us all as we goofed up, goofed around and well…acted goofy! Thanks Jessica! We had pork, chicken and my favorite — cheese and pepper tamales in these videos. I had not eaten much that day so I devoured whatever I could! Photo opp with Lori after our salsa slaw segment. Spending the afternoon with Lori was the best. She is so down to earth and really loves what she does. I told her I could relate with my own New Mexican family!
I showed her a picture of my cousin Nino, in Alaska, getting ready to roast a huge batch of peppers and she said she could relate! The videos will be ready soon.

The New Mexico native and her brother developed Salsa Senorita from flavors from her home state, and now she is sharing them from her Cherokee Bend home. That southwestern flavor comes from the uniquely New Mexican blend of ingredients in the salsa, not just the dominance of the tomato like many other salsas.Introduction to business management 10th edition 2016 pdf
She also likes to simmer precooked, chopped chicken breasts with salsa for four hours, reuslting in flavorful meat for quesadillas and nacho bars. She even makes Bloody Marys with her salsa.
Now she shares her love of the cuisine on Fox 6 segments on the fourth Sunday morning of the month and at cooking demonstrations at local retailers and Pepper Place Farmers Market. All of her recipes are available on her website as well. One recipe she says is always a hit is guacamole: simply mashed avocados, garlic, lemon juice, salsa and salt. In Sours and brother and now business partner, Mark Cauffman, developed the salsa recipe based on the fresh vegetable salsa they made growing up in New Mexico.
The spice in the medium, roasted garlic and hot varieties comes from the signature New Mexico pepper. Recently, however, she and Cauffman developed a mild version using a heatless pepper. Sours continues to think about creating new food products like a natural enchilada sauce and, armed with an MBA and career in marketing and sales, to market their existing salsas.
She is also working on a corporate gift package with salsas and recipes. She and her husband, David, who works for Coke United, also stay busy going to tennis tournaments with daughter Katherine, who is a seventh grader at the junior high and plays tennis at Pine Tree Country Club.
